Denver Police arrested a juvenile male in connection with a fatal shooting in northeast Denver, the agency said Friday.

The Colorado State Patrol has agreed to pay $50,000 to a man who had been banned from the agency’s Facebook page for leaving critical comments.

The killing was the second fatal shooting in the area Thursday.

The mishandling of criminal cases has been a common occurrence in Costilla County for years, prosecutors and former employees say. So they weren’t entirely surprised when the San Luis Valley DA announced the indictment of half the department.

The person killed in the shooting in northeast Denver’s Montbello neighborhood will be identified by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner.
