It seems like all anyone is talking about at the moment is peptides ... and some unusual people appear to be cashing in on it. Doctors have been shocked
by just how many people are injecting themselves with unregulated and unapproved vials bought from countless ‘grey-market’ websites popping up online. But what these people don't realise in their pursuit of better skin, a tan, weight loss or muscle growth, is that the complications can be severe and disturbing. As Sarah Booth reveals, some people are having to get skin grafts or even amputations.
In her special report, she has also investigated the people allegedly linked to these peptide websites. You might be imagining doctors, but one allegedly is a fence builder. Others are allegedly linked to cleaning companies. You can see the full list of names here.
Meanwhile, this week in Shopping Swaps we have looked at peanut and nut butters. As Taylor Penny reports, certain peanuts contain more nutrients. Some nut butters also contain unnecessary additives.
You can see her comprehensive list of the best and worst choices here.
Lastly, there has been an important win for children’s health. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced on Saturday that Murdoch Children’s Research Institute
would receive a $5m grant to continue its important work. "For 40 years MCRI has been a global leader in children’s health research,” Mr Albanese told guests at a special gala to mark the institute’s 40th anniversary. “My government is proud to partner with MCRI so our world-leading researchers have the best opportunities to support healthier childhoods for Australians now and into the future.”
 Have a great week.
