The weekend is here, and so is a warmup! We'll see 70s today, and 80s tomorrow. Then, records may fall in Boston with 90s projected Tuesday and Wednesday. Other news we're following this morning includes an attack at Nubian Square Station, plus Jake Thibeault addressing his fellow Babson graduates at commencement today. I'm Kaitlin McKinley Becker, and these are your headlines.

Man slashed in neck at MBTA station, police say

Transit police are investigating after a man’s neck was slashed Friday evening at an MBTA station in Boston’s Roxbury neighborhood.

The incident happened just after 8 p.m. at Nubian Square Station, which serves the Silver Line and other buses.

Police said two men were in a verbal dispute before one of them slashed the other with an unknown instrument.

70s today, 80s tomorrow, and 90 in Boston next week?! Summer warmup is here

The summer warmup is upon us!

We’ll have 70s today and 80s tomorrow with plentiful sun and mild (warm) breezes. The only tiny issue is a passing (very) early morning shower Sunday as a weak cool front moves through, otherwise, this is rain-free weekend.

Temperatures dip a bit on Monday, with cooling sea breezes pushing in along the coast. Elsewhere, this is another day in the 80s with full sunshine.

‘You have to take threats seriously': Calls for change follow Cambridge shooting

It is still unclear how the alleged gunman in this week’s shooting in Cambridge, Massachusetts, got his hands on a high-powered gun.

Tyler Brown of Boston was arraigned on multiple charges this week after allegedly firing dozens of shots Monday on busy Memorial Drive.

Brown was on parole and on the phone with his parole officer right before the incident.

Years after hockey injury, Jake Thibeault to address fellow Babson graduates

Jake Thibeault is preparing to take the stage at Babson College commencement this weekend after spending the last four-and-a-half years rebuilding his life following a devastating hockey injury.

The 23-year-old business administration major, focusing on finance and sports management, said he hoped his speech would leave a lasting impact on at least a few classmates at the school in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

“I hope that at least one or two people tomorrow can just take away something that they’re proud of,” he said Friday.

Man who owed $20K in tuition to BU charged with sending hundreds of threatening emails

A Chelsea, Massachusetts man is accused of sending hundreds of threatening emails to Boston University staff, including graphic images of shell casings, target practice and drive-by shooting scenes from movies.

Prosecutors say 29-year-old Maximillien Sajous began emailing BU officials after receiving notice at the end of January that he owed about $20,000 in tuition. Court documents said he sent nearly 200 emails to university employees — including deans — many of them described as disturbing and threatening.

Out of concern, the university reached out to Sajous regarding his mental health, prosecutors said. But he never responded.

Maine lumber mill fire, explosion leave at least 1 firefighter dead

A firefighter is dead and several others are in serious or critical condition after a fire led to an explosion at a Maine lumber mill Friday.

The explosion at Robbins Lumber in Searsmont took place as firefighters worked to suppress the fire in a silo, first reported about 10:05 a.m., the Fire Marshal’s Office said.

They didn’t share the total number of firefighters who were injured; two Maine hospitals had previously indicated they were expecting 11 patients.
