SarcoidosisUK launched its Research Innovation Awards last year and received many high quality applications which were assessed by external experts, members of our Patient Advisory Panel and the independent Medical and Scientific Advisory Panel.
At the end of the process, it was unanimously agreed that £59,992.66 should be awarded to Dr Claire Rice and her team at the University of Bristol for an 18 month programme, starting this June, looking at less invasive ways to diagnose neurosarcoidosis using tears. The title of the programme is “Cell-free DNA in tears as a biomarker for sarcoidosis affecting the eye and nervous system”.
We look forward to hearing their progress over the next 18 months! |
