Canberra Star

Good morning Wentyl,

From the educational elite to affordable regional colleges, explore the definitive list of the 100 best private primary schools in NSW – including the top two in the nation.

The national dominance of NSW schools continues, with historic Sydney Grammar crowned Australia’s top private primary school.

Sydney Grammar, located in Darlinghurst, charges $46,000 for year 6 tuition, and enjoys excellent NAPLAN results, low student teacher ratios and an attendance level of 91 per cent.

Not surprisingly, its students are among the most privileged in the nation, with 93 per cent coming from the top socio-educational quartile. It was also ranked as Australia’s top private secondary school overall in the landmark News Corp list last July.

The Daily Telegraph’s ultimate power list of educational excellence is based on analysis of more than 2000 private primary schools nationwide, taking into account year 3 and 5 NAPLAN scores, student-staff ratios, socio-educational status and attendance level.
