As we get older, being “in shape” is less about looking good and more about being able to master the messy movements of real life. Think: reaching for a heavy pot on a high shelf or getting up off the floor after playing with the kids. The key is to continue practicing awkward and unfamiliar movements. With that in mind, this week we present 6 at-home tests that help ensure your balance and mobility. Each requires balance, coordination, mobility, strength and spatial awareness – all necessary for aging and living well. Try these move and see how you fare.

And if you were already trying to cut out ultraprocessed foods from your diet, here’s one more reason: your brain health. (Also, don’t miss our health reporter’s illuminating one-week journey about the difficulty of feeding her family without UPFs. You’ll laugh and possibly cry.)
