Why Michael Jackson Will Never Be Canceled |
Michael, the superstar biopic sanctioned by the Michael Jackson estate, made more than $217 million at the international box office this weekend—a huge take for a movie about a musician. At least 10 people have also publicly accused Jackson of sexually abusing them when they were between the ages of seven and 12. How can all of these things be true at the same time? Hillary Busis has a depressing theory: “Occam’s razor suggests that the people in charge and civilians alike know what these men”—not only Jackson but other “canceled” guys who have mounted comebacks, like Louis C.K., Brett Ratner, and yes, Donald Trump—“have allegedly done, and they just do not care.”
