Centreville Students, Families, and Community,
One of our top priorities at Centreville High School is fostering a positive school climate where every student feels a strong sense of connectedness and belonging. This week was a wonderful reflection of that commitment. From our Wellness Week activities, including opportunities to relax, connect, and even enjoy alpacas during lunch, to our first-ever Wellness Choice Activity Day, our school was filled with energy and engagement. Students had the chance to participate in a wide range of activities, from bracelet making and creating summer bucket lists to showcasing their talents during our Talent Show. It was truly an incredible way for students and staff to come together in meaningful and unique ways.
We then closed out the week with a truly Monumental Night at our Junior/Senior Prom at Union Stage in Washington, D.C. Nearly 300 students came together to celebrate and create lasting memories. The evening was filled with dancing, games, an ice cream cart, and exciting giveaways. Thank you to all of our staff chaperones for their support, and a special thank you to Ms. Walker and Ms. Williams, our junior class sponsors, for their outstanding work behind the scenes to make this event such a success.
As we look ahead, we are entering an important stretch of the school year with upcoming SOL and AP assessments. We will begin with the Reading SOL on Thursday, April 30, and will operate on a modified schedule during testing days. Students scheduled to take SOLs must attend their assigned sessions and will receive specific testing information via their FCPS email (with details also shared with families); they should arrive on time with a fully charged Chromebook and charger, and buses will run on their normal schedule. Students not testing during this time will either report to school to work on academic tasks in assigned locations or may arrive by 11:15AM if completing work from home, depending on their transportation arrangements.
It is incredibly important that students give their very best effort on both SOL and AP assessments. SOLs are a graduation requirement, and AP exams provide valuable opportunities to earn college credit. Beyond that, these assessments reflect the collective work of our students, families, and staff, and help demonstrate Centreville High School’s academic progress and excellence to our broader community and the state.
Thank you for your continued partnership and for helping us build a strong, connected, and supportive Wildcat community.
Go Wildcats!
