Practice Schedule for the Week

Coaches have the right to adjust the schedule as they see fit, so make sure you are getting whatever communication comes from your program. Many of our programs have varying time schedules for practice as all our programs work together to maximize practice space and utilize our facilities equally.

Booster Club Update

Our Booster Club Board is small but mighty! We can use all the help, so if you are interested in supporting our student athletes and the Boosters efforts, let us know and we can get you connected. There are plenty of opportunities to help and even if you think your skillset is not useful, we can find a way to make it useful!

Our next meeting is April 14th at 6pm in the Career Center at Hayfield. All are welcome to attend and contribute! The Booster Club handles all things concessions which is the single largest source of income for our athletics budget. FCPS does not supply a yearly budget, so outside of buses and officials, we have to fundraise for everything else. The Boosters and their efforts, allow us the ability to purchase all the things that our student athletes need and want. Some of their recent purchases include the windscreens around our facilities, the baseball turtle and supporting our youth clinics.

Our Booster Club joined with several other people to donate money to cover almost 150 Hayfield students' entry into the Girls Region Basketball semifinal to support our ladies!

We are always looking for volunteers and new folks with no ideas, so please feel free to reach out.

Athletes of the Week

Athlete of the Week

We were fortunate to have an incredible number of our student athletes represent Hayfield and Hawk Pride on their respective Fall and Winter All National District, Occoquan and Virginia State teams. See them all here - Hawks on the All National District Teams, Hawks on the All Occoquan Region Teams and Hawks on All State Who has next?

Kudos to all of our amazing student athletes that competed this Fall and Winter and to all our amazing student athletes that are competing for Spring teams! We look forward to seeing you all compete on the mats, in the pools, on the track and on the courts!

Girls varsity soccer are shaping up to be amongst the favorites in the district and have designs on competing in the region!

Boys soccer are amongst the top couple of teams in our district and have picked up some impressive results.

Girls lacrosse and boys lacrosse continue to compete hard and get better every day.

Our softball and baseball teams finally got on their newly renovated diamonds and played as nice as the fields look! Both teams are seen as top contenders in the district after convincing wins over Edison at their place and perhaps the region!

Our tennis teams continue to compete, see success and continue to get better each day.

Our track continues to put together fast times and big distances/heights in meets, signaling that they are ready to compete for a district championship as well.

Congratulations to our Winterguard!

After missing the podium several times this season, our Hayfield Winterguard finally got on the podium in the best way. They were gold medal winners as a result of their first place finish at the AIA Championships in Hampton, VA! Congrats to the team and Coach Amy!

Notes From Our Programs

Stay tuned for Amazon wish lists for all our programs in the near future. We have requests from the community to provide ways that our programs can be supported in small, subtle ways. All programs that would like to be involved and included will be tasked with providing a link to their wishlist to provide to the community.

Coach Drickey’s Thoughts and Ramblings

I urge you to take advantage of our Booster Club passes and gain entrance to all home regular season contests for the price of your membership. With that in mind, the expectation is that fans are coming to support and cheer for our team and our students, while making sure that we don’t make negative comments to officials or our opponents.

We are excited for our student athletes to demonstrate their success on the field and excel in the classroom, as we chase district, region, and state championships. Our goal is to make Hayfield THE school in Northern Virginia, Virginia proper and the entire country.

This week’s quote comes from Darren Karnazes, an ultramarathoner. “Run when you can. Walk if you have to. Crawl if you must. Just never give up.” I have seen every single program we have perform this year, and I can honestly say that we don’t have student athletes that quit. Our kids work hard till the end, regardless of the score, time or how they are doing. I LOVE that about our student athletes. It is part of what Mr. Nowland was thinking when he used to talk about HAWK PRIDE.

We look forward to our athletes, coaches and supporters winning on the field, courts, mats, track and in the pools, and in the classroom with class and HAWK PRIDE!
