Hi Jan,
We just closed the analysis on our Q1 2026 AI Impact Report, and I wanted to forward it to you in case it’s valuable for you and your team.
Here’s the link to access the full report, and here’s a quick look at some of the findings:
Junior engineers now save more time with AI than Staff+ engineers. Junior engineers now saving 4.9 hours/week vs. 4.8 for staff+. Last quarter, Staff+ engineers were regaining the most time.
Shadow AI persists. Developers frequently bypass official channels to use unapproved tools. Organizations should establish clear acceptable use policies rather than attempting to outright block experimentation.
Quality remains volatile. While some organizations are seeing clear improvement to quality as AI usage increases, others are seeing serious degradation, with many swinging significantly.
Engineering managers are shipping more code than ever. Engineering managers using AI daily now ship 4x as much code as non-users—a significant increase from last quarter.
Agentic tools and Rust pull ahead. Agentic tools like Cursor saw a 46% increase in PR throughput for daily users. Language-wise, Rust has pressed forward, with Rust-specific reasoning improvements appearing in models such as Claude 3.7 and Gemini 3.0.

If any of these findings raise questions for your team, I'm always happy to dig in.
