The Artemis II astronauts are farther from Earth than any humans have ever been.

At approximately 1:56 p.m. ET, the crew members broke the record of 248,655 miles from Earth set by the Apollo 13 astronauts in April 1970, during their emergency return to the planet.

The Artemis II mission is expected to reach a maximum distance of an estimated 252,760 miles.
