Some current projects with the UATX Innovation Labs and Alpha Fellowship:Almar Tiskenko & Max Litvinenka — UATX sophomores deploying AI to teach their generation Socratic thinking with Reading Rooms.Max: “With Reading Rooms, my goal is to use AI to strengthen critical thinking, support real reading, and preserve the humanity of learning, so that we don’t confuse intelligence with automation and productivity, while still raising people who can think for themselves and make decisions using the amazing opportunities that modern technologies provide.” ![]() Rhett Jones, UATX sophomore — building Cased (ridecased.com), an action sports clothing brand."We are currently at $500k/month in revenue. I am 10 months into my journey so far. I was able to start this because of the grant money I got from the Alpha Fellowship. Every penny I got went into research and development." ![]() Nicole Kargin, UATX sophomore — automating peer review with ResearchDoc AI.“The same way a credit score shows you how financially trustworthy someone is, ResearchDoc AI shows you what articles, authors, and journals you can trust in academia: it’s a web-extension that scores scientific research article publications… The Alpha Fellowship has made my enormous goal of reforming the scientific publication system possible. It has taught me how to leverage AI to its fullest potential (and also how not to use it), how to build from zero to one in a day, and how to go from one to infinity. The Innovation Labs at UATX have given me countless opportunities to grow as a founder. They got me a table at Capital Factory’s SXSW Startup Crawl (for free!), where I made connections that transformed my company’s future. I’m so grateful to both the Alpha Fellowship and UATX for their support, without which I would not be where I am today.” Jack Erickson, UATX sophomore — tracking hydration and delivering personalized electrolyte doses with Oros Hydration’s smart water bottle.“Six months ago I knew nothing about hardware. Now Oros - a smart water bottle with a built-in electrolyte cartridge that micro-doses based on your hydration patterns — is heading into testing.” Ethan Brewster, UATX sophomore — ensuring patients pay fair healthcare prices with Fairdoc."I'm building Fairdoc, an AI-powered medical bill advocacy platform that helps patients find billing errors and negotiate lower costs. I started this because I watched my father avoid care he desperately needed over a price that turned out to be wrong. Nobody should have to choose between overpaying and skipping care because they can't get a straight answer on cost. This venture wouldn't have been possible without the Alpha Fellowship, which gave me the runway to go all-in on solving this problem." ![]() Danielle Guilbot, UATX sophomore — developing Texas Film Scene, an all-in-one production platform for Texas film and television.“My aim is to simplify the claiming, compliance, and distribution of Texas’ $1.5 billion in film incentives so that we can make Texas the new Hollywood. The Alpha Fellowship and UATX Innovation Labs have provided incredible networking connections, and the Alpha Fellowship has provided wonderful support for my business through mentors like Douglas Green, a solid structure with weekly meetings and sprints, as well as unbelievable financial support that allowed me to pursue something I’m truly passionate about. |
