Today, Australia and the European Union (EU) concluded negotiations on a landmark free trade agreement that will strengthen Australia’s economic and strategic partnership with the EU.
The Australia-European Union Free Trade Agreement (A-EU FTA) is a comprehensive, progressive and commercially meaningful deal that creates new opportunities for Australians to export their goods and services to a high-income market of around 450 million consumers.
Once fully implemented, 98% of the current value of Australia’s goods exports will enter the EU duty-free. The FTA eliminates tariffs on a range of agricultural products and processed foods, manufactured goods, and environmental goods. Australian services suppliers will face fewer regulatory burdens and enjoy greater access and certainty.
