Everyone Is Valerie Cherish Now |
It only took 20 years for the rest of the world to get on Valerie Cherish’s level. That’s the takeaway point from Chris Murphy’s new interview with Lisa Kudrow and Michael Patrick King, who go long on reviving their cult hit The Comeback for an all too timely third season. These days, King explains, “Everybody seems to be as desperate as Valerie used to be in the first season. And I’m not talking about just people in the business. I’m talking about people curating their lives on phones and Instagram. Filters and rejecting takes—doing things more than once because they don’t like how they came across on their Instagram posts. That’s what people thought Valerie was pathetic for, trying to control her image, and now that’s all anybody’s doing.”
Elsewhere in HWD, Valerie herself—okay, with some help from King and Kudrow—answers the Proust Questionnaire; Daniela Tijerina chats with Sofia Coppola about her new Marc Jacobs documentary; Eve Batey checks in on the brand-new SNL UK; and Chappell Roan does not know what all the fuss is about. |
