The owner of the Old Montreal building that was the scene of a deadly fire in March 2023 has been arrested and is facing charges of manslaughter and criminal negligence, Montreal police announced Wednesday.
Emile Benamor, 63, faces seven charges of manslaughter for the deaths, as well as eight charges of criminal negligence causing bodily harm for the people who were injured in the blaze.
