KiKi Shepard, ‘Showtime at the Apollo' co-host, dies at 74

KiKi Shepard, who co-hosted the “Showtime at the Apollo” variety show for 15 years, has died, according to a statement Tuesday from her family and charity organization. She was 74.

“KiKi’s light, compassion, and purpose will continue to shine through all those whose lives she touched,” the statement said.

A representative for Shepard told NBC News she died Monday after suffering a heart attack.

Michael B. Jordan celebrates Oscar win at In-N-Out, statue in one hand and burger in another

After receiving the best actor Academy Award on Sunday for playing twin brothers in “Sinners,” Michael B. Jordan celebrated with a burger at a Hollywood In-N-Out.

In several videos posted online, the actor is seen posing for photos at the popular fast-food eatery with his gold statue still in hand. Stunned fans screamed and cheered as Jordan smiled at the camera.

Sunday’s win was Jordan’s first Oscar. He beat out Timothée Chalamet for “Marty Supreme,” Leonardo DiCaprio for “One Battle After Another,” Ethan Hawke for “Blue Moon” and Wagner Moura for “The Secret Agent.”

There’s the Oscars you see on television and the one that takes place off camera. During commercial breaks, it can be a race to catch up with, congratulate and possibly console the peers around you. It can also be a time to run to the famed lobby bar and really be out of sight.

At Sunday’s 98th Oscars, The Associated Press was inside the Dolby Theatre scoping out all the things that weren’t broadcast to the world. Here are the top behind-the-scenes moments:

Early in the show, after Conan O’Brien’s opening bit, Kate Hudson made her way to the lobby bar during a commercial break where she was soon joined by Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. She had a brief moment of panic that she might be needed in the auditorium and found a nearby staffer who eased her worries as they looked over the schedule on an iPad.
