ByteDance has put on hold the global launch of its latest video-generation model, Seedance 2.0, due to a string of copyright disputes with major Hollywood studios and streaming platforms, according to two people with direct knowledge of the situation.
The TikTok parent released Seedance 2.0 to consumers and businesses in China last month, and some clips generated by the model immediately racked up millions of views on X due to their hyperrealistic quality. One viral video depicted a rough fistfight on a rooftop between Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise, while another showed Darth Vader and Deadpool, each holding a light saber, in a duel on board a spaceship.
