First say to yourself what you would be; and then do what you have to do. ~Epictetus I was thirty-three years old when I got married for the first time. I grew up with the idea that becoming a wife should be the ultimate goal of every woman, and I felt like a failure that I was still single. So, when I met a man at a local church, I thought he checked off all the right boxes for being a good provider and husband, and I rushed into marriage after knowing him for less than a year. My husband’s attempts to “modify my behavior” started on our honeymoon. He wanted me to change my hair and the way I dressed, and also get a different job. Basically, he wanted me to change who I was into who he wanted me to be. Since my previous relationships had all failed, I just assumed that something about me was the problem. (Keep reading)
