Justice for Timothée Chalamet! |
If internet discourse is to be believed, the masses spent Saturday and Sunday supporting their local opera houses and ballet companies—specifically to stick it to one Timothée Chalamet. The best-actor nominee recently put his foot in his mouth, implying in an interview that those art forms are not exactly popular anymore: “I don’t want to be working in ballet or opera, or, you know, things where it’s like, ‘Hey, keep this thing alive,’” Chalamet said. “All respect to all the ballet and opera people out there.” And you know what? VF’s own Chris Murphy agrees with him. “Those attempting to dunk on Chalamet keep proving his point,” Murphy writes. “People are trying to prove that the public still cherishes these art forms by sharing stills from decade-plus-old films like Pretty Woman, Center Stage, and Black Swan. (Fun fact: Those are all movies, actually.)”
Elsewhere in HWD, Margaret Heidenry and Dean Ward catch up with Liza Minnelli as the icon’s highly anticipated memoir hits shelves; Savannah Walsh runs down everything you need to know about the 2026 VF Oscar Party (which is this week, in case you needed a reminder!); Murphy visits a charmingly chaotic JFK Jr. look-alike competition; and VF contributor (and Love Story supervising producer) Juli Weiner takes us behind the scenes of the show’s dreamy wedding episode. |
