Message from Mr. Greata
Hello Woodson Community,
After such a beautiful, spring-like weekend, we are once again facing the possibility of snow! I hope this is the "last gasp" from Old Man Winter. Please stay tuned for any school announcements regarding tomorrow’s schedule.
The Woodson Speech & Debate program is celebrating an exceptional season, with multiple students qualifying for major postseason tournaments and earning top finishes at the regional competition. This past Saturday, Feb. 28, the Woodson Debate Team had a standout performance at the VHSL 6C Regional Tournament, finishing 2nd place overall. Please join me in congratulating our podium finishers:
- Public Forum Debate: 1st Place (Shrigouri Kommireddy & Ziad Wanna) and 2nd Place (Paul Kim & Connor Breen)
- Lincoln-Douglas Debate: 2nd Place (Arya Desai)
All three entries have qualified for the upcoming VHSL 6CD Super Regional Tournament! Additionally, several debaters have earned bids to the WASDL Metro Finals based on their high rankings throughout the year. The top three finishers at Metro Finals will advance to the national competition.
- Lincoln-Douglas Qualifiers: Rekha Thirumlai and Nina Samani (Competing March 21)
- Public Forum Qualifiers: Caroline Tso and Lukas Mellott (Competing March 13–14)
On the marketing front, thirty Woodson Marketing students traveled to Virginia Beach this past Friday, Feb. 27, for the DECA State Leadership Conference. We are so proud of the following students for their achievements at the conference:

A special congratulations to Mehr, Abby, Leyla, Sung Joo, Binisha, and Ray, who all qualified to attend the 2026 International Career Development Conference in Atlanta, Georgia! This event hosts over 20,000 DECA members from around the world at the end of April.
Finally, this Saturday, our One-Act team will be traveling to Charlottesville to compete in the State Championship. We want to wish them the best of luck as they perform A Piece of My Heart. If you have not seen their performance, it is truly worth the drive to support these talented students.
We are so proud of all our students for their dedication, sportsmanship, and outstanding achievements. We wish them continued success as they advance to their next competitions! I hope you have a wonderful week and stay warm—hopefully for the last time!
Go Cavaliers!

FCPS Offers Take-Home Meal Kits for Fasting Students
FCPS is offering take-home meal kits from Wednesday, February 18 to Thursday, March 19, 2026 to support students who are fasting during the school day.
Thanks to a program from the Virginia Department of Education, students can now take healthy school meal kits home at the end of the day. These kits are designed to be eaten later that day and include both breakfast and lunch.
Families must fill out a meal kit request form on the Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) website for each student, every week. Because these meals are prepared fresh, we cannot accept late requests.
Submit a fasting meal kit request form by these deadlines:
- By Wednesday, February 11, 2026 for the week of February 18, 2026
- By Monday, February 16, 2026 for the week of February 23, 2026
- By Monday, February 23, 2026 for the week of March 2, 2026
- By Monday, March 2, 2026 for the week of March 9, 2026
- By Monday, March 9, 2026 for the week of March 16, 2026
