Updates and Closures

  • Wed., March 4 - Ndrop-in sports from 11:30 a.m-7 p.m. 
  • Tue., March 24 - No drop-in sports from 1-6 p.m.
  • After Sun., March 29 TJ will pause Sunday hours until December 2026.
  • Badminton will now be set up on Tuesday and Thursdays from 5 to 8:45 pm. Soccer will be on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5 to 8:45 pm.

Skate Nights - Final Month of the Season!

Teen Takeover: Saturday, March 14, 7-10 p.m.
This special Skate Night is a teen-led takeover featuring glow sticks, open skating and more. Free and open to middle and high school teens. Sign up here.

 

Family Skate Nights: March 7, 21 & 28, 6-9 p.m.
Join us for our regular family Skate Nights on select Saturdays through March 28. Reserve your skate size online or bring your own and walk in. Learn more.

 

Join us at The REC: Arlington's Teen After-School Zone!

The REC offers after-school activities for Arlington middle and high school students, including music, dance, games, cooking, art and more. The program is available Monday - Friday 2:30 – 6 p.m., except on holidays and days when school is not in session. Free! 

 

 

Fitness @ TJ

Circuit                     

Move from station to station trying new moves to test your strength, balance and stamina with an instructor encouraging you! Only $6 for adults; $5 for ages 55+ (with a community center fitness membership). Fridays: 9-10 a.m. Drop in. 

 

Core & More

Abs, back, balance and full-body movements... come try something new! Only $6 for adults; $5 for ages 55+ (with a community center fitness membership). Mondays 9:15-10 a.m. Core Moves Thursdays: 9:15-10 a.m. Drop in.

 

Cycle

Warm-up, climb, sprint, interval train, and cool-down. Any fitness level is welcome to go at your own pace in this indoor class for adults on Tuesdays from 9-9:35 a.m., and Wednesdays from 7:15-8 p.m. Only $6 for adults; $5 for ages 55+ (with a community center fitness membership). Drop in or sign up here  

 

 

Muscle Blast

A full-body strength workout with dumbbells, balls, bars and more at this indoor class for adults on Tuesdays from 5:30-6:15 p.m. and Wednesdays from 12:15-1 p.m. Only $6 for adults; $5 for ages 55+ (with a community center fitness membership). Drop in.  

 

Muscle Conditioning
Get your heart rate up with Muscle Conditioning, an outdoor bodyweight workout for adults on Mondays from 12:15-1 p.m. and Thursdays from 5:30-6:15 p.m. Only $6 for adults; $5 for ages 55+ (no membership required). Drop in. Bring your own mat or towel; hand weights are optional.

It offers a dynamic, full-body workout that blends strength, flexibility, and mindful movement. Using the Reformer’s spring-based resistance system, participants engage in controlled exercises that challenge core stability, improve posture, and enhance muscular endurance. Yoga
Build strength, body awareness, and flexibility with a multilevel yoga class. Breathe to connect poses and leave focused and energized on Wednesdays from 6:15-7 p.m. and Yoga Pilates Fusion on Fridays from 10:05-10:50 a.m. Only $6 for adults; $5 for ages 55+ (with a community center fitness membership). Drop in.

DPR and the FY 2027 Proposed Operating Budget

On Sat., Feb. 21 the County Manager released the Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 Proposed Operating BudgetTo learn about impacts directly related to Parks and Recreation programs or services, we invite you to watch DPR’s budget work session with the County Board on March 5, 2026 at 1 p.m.

 

The County Board will host two opportunities for public comment:

  • Tue., March 24 at 6:30 p.m. - Public Budget Hearing
  • Thu., March 26 at 6:30 p.m. - Public Tax Rate and Fees Hearing

All hearings and work sessions will be held in the County Board Room at the Bozman Government Center, 2100 Clarendon Blvd, 3rd Floor and are also available to view online. Resources can be found on the County Board meetings and agendas webpage. Community members can also share their views online by emailing dmf@arlingtonva.us.

Nature Center Hours

With Daylight Saving Time beginning, both Long Branch and Gulf Branch Nature Centers will offer extended evening hours on Fridays and Saturdays. Starting Friday, March 13, both centers will be open 11 a.m.–7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Hike

Upcoming Nature/History Programs: 

The Irish Volunteers of Arlington

Join the Park Historian on Mon., March 16, 7-8 p.m. at Long Branch Nature Center for an evening deep dive into the Irish volunteer soldiers who encamped, built forts and roads, and trained in Arlington County during the Civil War. Who were they? Why did they fight? What was their impact on the county? And what glory did they win on the battlefield? Teens ages 16+ welcome with a registered adult. Cost $7 Register: 622740-C

 

History Hike: Local Stories of the American Revolution

Join us on Sat., March 28, 3-4:30 p.m. at Madison Manor Park. As America commemorates its 250th birthday, dive into the little-known local chapters of our founding history in this 1-mile round trip hike. Additionally, all Parks & Recreation programs, classes and camps can put modifications in place to promote an enjoyable and successful program experience for participants of all abilities. Advance notice is welcome. Call 703-228-4740 or email trinfo@arlingtonva.us.

 

Stop by our office at Lubber Run Community Center on select Saturdays to get help with registration, create an account, get login information, renew or apply for fee reductions, drop off registration forms, set up payment plans and more. The DPR Administrative Services Office at Lubber Run Community Center also has extended after hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 –7 p.m. for in-person assistance.
