What You Missed at the BAFTAs |
Yes, awards were handed out at Sunday evening’s BAFTAs—but the 2026 edition of the British Academy’s annual ceremony will be remembered most for an offstage incident that immediately prompted an outcry. As John Ross, who was in the audience, writes, “John Davidson—the real-life inspiration for the celebrated British film I Swear—shouted the N-word at Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo while the Sinners stars were presenting the award for best visual effects. The outburst followed an opening monologue from host Alan Cumming during which Davidson, who has Tourette syndrome, was involuntarily ticking.” Ross caught up with Lindo at the Warner Bros. after-party following the ceremony, where the Oscar nominee told Vanity Fair that he and Jordan “did what we had to do” while presenting—but that he also wished “someone from BAFTA spoke to us afterward.”
In other BAFTAs news, Kate Middleton and Prince William return to the red carpet; José Criales-Unzueta selects the best-dressed celebrities at the event; and VF’s fashion team presents all the looks at the awards show.
