Palatine’s Waddington wins all-around state title and area wrestlers advance to state finals

A tough night on the balance beam kept Palatine’s Jolee Waddington off the podium in the all-around competition at last year’s state girls gymnastics tournament.

Friday night, Waddington opened on the beam and delivered.

Waddington scored a 9.40 and never looked back to win the all-around title on the first night of the state meet.

In Champaign, a host of area wrestlers won their semifinal matches to advance to tonight’s championship round.
