The Annual Congressional Art Competition provides Members of Congress with the unique opportunity to showcase the artistic creativity and talent of high school students from across the United States. As your Congressman from the 11th District of Virginia, it is my pleasure to host this competition for residents of this district and to show my support for the fine arts.
This competition is open to all high school students who are residents of the 11th Congressional District regardless of where they attend school; public, private and home-schooled students are invited to participate.
How To Enter
- Each student may submit a maximum of two pieces. Submissions do not need to be a new piece of art specifically for this competition —students are welcome to submit any piece from their portfolio as long as it wasn’t submitted to the competition previously.
- Drop off your submission with your entry form by Monday, March 2nd by noon EST to the South Lakes High School Front Office (one form per entry) taped on back of your submission into the “Congressional Art Competition” box. All entries will be hand-delivered to the district office that day.
Great news—all entries will be professionally displayed at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, Virginia. The exhibit will be open to the public from March 7, 2026, to March 15, 2026. Winning piece will be displayed at the U.S. Capitol for one year, the second-place entry will be exhibited at the Workhouse Arts Gallery for a year, and with the permission of the artists, the third-place piece will be displayed in Congressman Walkinshaw’s district office.
