A letter from our editor:
I was feeling stretched thin after a busy January. While I’d had intentions of slowing down, February other plans, and we rang in the month with an abrupt trip to the ER that resulted in a hospitalization for my first born — she needed an emergency appendectomy, which went well, and for that I am thankful.
Our family is home and has returned to our normal routine. While I am grateful, I’m also aware that we are all still very much healing from the upheaval.
I’m reminded that home is where we do just that — heal. Home is where we land after life has left us reeling, where we make our art and cry our tears and hold each other after it’s all said and done.
Home is where we carry out our evening ritual of lighting a fire in the fireplace, where we gather around the table for food and company that nourishes and sustains us. It’s where we let our guards down, drift off for a mid-day nap on the sofa, and collectively snuggle together for warmth and comfort.
Below I’m sharing my favorite new-to-me soup recipe, a simple craft to encourage inspiration and creativity in our house, and a couple of deals from a few of my personal favorite brands that create nurturing creature comforts I’m leaning into as my nervous system regulates.
Warmly, Kate Community Manager

DESIGN
One of my most basic self-care practices is keeping things tidy. We own two of the dressers on this guide and my brain loves nothing more than when everything is put away.

DECOR
I have this project on my to-do list to display my kids' artwork and my own vision casting. Creating is a balm, and displaying our artwork boosts our confidence and hope.

DIY
I have only ever enjoyed chicken soup for function rather than flavor, but our family enjoyed this recipe recently and now I make it on repeat.

- My favorite mattress and bedding brand is Avocado (everyone in our family sleeps on one of their mattresses!) They're currently running a 20% off sale through March 2.
- Body care is my one self soothing non-negotiable, and I'm a huge fan of OBAKKI's low-waste practices along with their whipped shea butter hand cream. They've offered our subscribers an exclusive discount — get 15% off your order with code GOODTRADE15.
- And honestly, sometimes the most healing thing we can do is get OUT of the house. I personally have a solo trip to unplug from everything planned for next weekend, which reminds me to share that luggage brand CALPAK is currently running a sale — grab sustainable travel basics for up to 50% off.
