Hey Snackers,

It’s nice when employers reward RTO with perks like on-site lunches, baristas, and gyms. But sometimes the perk is too popular: take the new bar that JPMorgan opened within its shiny new HQ, Morgan’s. It’s quite the scene, with CEO Jamie Dimon often dropping by — but with only 55 seats (and 10,000 employees), it’s a “near impossible quest” to get in.

The S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, and Russell 2000 climbed higher on Wednesday, even though minutes from last month’s Fed meeting revealed that the central bank is split on where interest rates should go. Energy was the best-performing sector as traders evaluated US-Iran negotiations, while utilities and real estate were the worst performers.

Nvidia enhances partnership with social media giant Meta to deploy “millions” of its GPUs

Meta is laying it out in no uncertain terms: its AI build-out will be brought to you by Nvidia.

  • In pair of press releases after the close on Tuesday, the social media giant and chip designer detailed a “multi-year, multi-generational strategic partnership” that “will enable the large-scale deployment of NVIDIA CPUs and millions of NVIDIA Blackwell and Rubin GPUs, as well as the integration of NVIDIA Spectrum-X Ethernet switches for Meta’s Facebook Open Switching System platform.”
  • There’s also a deeper integration with a very commonly used communications tool at play. “Meta has adopted NVIDIA Confidential Computing for WhatsApp private processing, enabling AI-powered capabilities across the messaging platform,” per the press release.
  • The press release did not spell out any contractual purchase obligations on Meta’s behalf, but is more of a statement of intent on how aligned the parties plan to be in attempting to deliver on the promise of the AI boom.

One obvious winner, of course, is Nvidia, as investors may now have a clearer line of sight to millions of GPU sales that include not only this generation, but future editions, as well. The inclusion of CPUs in this pact, with an expanded role in data center environments, is also good news for Arm Holdings, whose IP was utilized to develop these products.

THE TAKEAWAY

The losers? Nvidia’s competitors in...

…AI chips: Advanced Micro Devices and Broadcom, as the dominant incumbent’s big, long-term deal with a hyperscaler seemingly reduces their ability to gain market share.

…CPUs: Intel, and for that matter, AMD again.

And an established Meta networking client: Arista Networks, which is seeing Nvidia muscle in on this territory.

With US coffee prices reaching record highs, will Americans rethink their consumption?

It’s been a while since the US was a tea-drinking country, with the nation adopting a coffee habit in the 1700s that quickly shifted from being politically revolutionary to, for many, absolutely necessary.

  • Today, America is the world leader in coffee consumption: a total of ~1.6 billion kilograms were consumed domestically last year, per USDA figures, and the National Coffee Association estimated that, as of January 2025, two-thirds (66%) of American adults were drinking coffee every day.
  • According to Friday data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average price of coffee across US cities went up to $9.37 per pound in January — the most expensive since records began in 1980, and up 33% from January 2025.
  • Meanwhile, the global price of coffee dropped to $3.64 per pound last month.

In case you missed it, the US imposed import taxes on a few countries (and non-countries) in 2025. Unsurprisingly, coffee products, ~99% of which the US imports from abroad, were hit hard — and raising the tariff on Brazil, the world’s biggest coffee producer, to 50% in July didn’t help.

THE TAKEAWAY

Even after these tariffs were rolled back at the end of last year, coffee prices have continued to rise in the US. That’s partly because the tariff reversal will take some time to filter through the supply chain, as importers generally order beans months in advance. Mix in last year’s production shortfalls from America’s top importing countries and a more positive supply outlook for 2026, and you get a record US-global split in coffee costs.

Analyst says key bitcoin level to watch is this “decision band”

Bitcoin remains stuck in the $67,000 range, down 46% from its October 6 all-time high. Some experts think the asset has already bottomed out, while others believe it still has a long way to fall. Zaid Khan, managing partner of Manhattan Global Partners, told Sherwood News that around some very specific price levels, “holding above supports a grind higher,” while “losing it increases odds of a sweep lower.”
