Today's Milan Cortina Olympics Headlines

Good Morning from Milan where this Wednesday is coming up ALL SILVER! Ben Ogden winning his SECOND silver medal of these games this morning, just a day after his great friend from Vermont, Mac Forehand, won a silver medal on a snowy night in Livigno in Big Air! We just got finished talking with Mac and he had no idea about Ben's second medal win. His reaction: Priceless. We'll share more of that later on today on NBC10 Boston. All this as Team USA men's hockey faces its toughest test yet, a match this afternoon against Sweden! Plus, a local legend on the slopes as we track it all on a busy day in Milan. - Eli

HIGHLIGHT:  American duo Ben Ogden and Gus Schumacher earn silver in cross-country men's team sprint

Team USA placed second with a time of 18:30.3, just 1.4 seconds behind Norway. It was the first Olympic medal for Schumacher and second for Ogden, who won silver in the sprint classic last week.

A New England doctor is keeping the U.S. Nordic combined team ready for action

A New England doctor is hard at work in Italy to ensure Team USA has the best chance possible of bringing home a medal.

Already at Milan Cortina 2026, we’ve seen athletes pushing their bodies to the limit. Lindsey Vonn competed with a torn ACL. Jessie Diggins crossed the finish line with a bruised rib and muscle tear.

“You have to accept what they are willing to do and are going to do is different than maybe the decisions you and I might make in our everyday life,” said Dr. Christopher Couture.

WATCH: USA's Mac Forehand wins big air silver in dramatic finish to freeski final

Mac Forehand is an Olympic medalist.

The Team USA freestyle skier captured silver in a dramatic men’s big air final Tuesday at the 2026 Milan Cortina Games. It was the 24-year-old’s first medal over two Olympic appearances.

Norway’s Tormod Frostad and Austria’s Matej Svancer won gold and bronze, respectively, for their first Olympic podium finishes.

Team USA's Jake Canter lands Olympic bronze in men's snowboard slopestyle

Team USA’s Jake Canter came away with a bronze medal in the men’s snowboard slopestyle event at the Milan Cortina Olympics.

The Evergreen, Colorado, native jumped into podium contention with a 79.36 in his final run, and he was in third place with just one snowboarder left to go. New Zealand’s Dane Menzies, the top qualifier, fell on his final run, cementing Canter’s place on the podium.

China’s Su Yiming, celebrating his 22nd birthday, won gold with an 82.41, while Japan’s Taiga Hasegawa earned silver with an 82.13. Norway’s Marcus Kleveland just missed out on the podium, scoring 0.4 points below Canter on his third run to finish fourth.

Lindsey Vonn's skis didn't release in Olympic crash. Raises years-old safety issues, experts tell AP

The images of Lindsey Vonn down on the snow, screaming in pain and then being airlifted off the course by helicopter after her crash at the Olympics were a stark reminder of the dangers of the downhill.

So is this: Her skis didn’t come off.

Vonn’s boots remained locked into her skis even after her pinwheeling fall at the Milan Cortina Games, pointing awkwardly in different directions as she slid to a stop in obvious agony.
