Bolstered by the acquisition of three veteran free agents — right-hander Michael Lorenzen and Tomoyuki Sugano, and lefty Jose Quintana — the Rockies open spring training on Thursday at Salt River Fields in Scottsdale, Ariz., with plenty of competition for the starting rotation.
