1) Little league
You don't hit a home run your first day at little league.
Same deal with getting lean.
Your first 10-12 week fat loss push might be a challenge.
Hunger. Figuring out food logging. You won't get as lean as you think.
Don't be afraid to take a breather.
Eat some more food for a few weeks. Then go again.
You'll have more skills under your belt. Plus, a fresh 'set of tires' after a little pit stop.
Make a habit of continuing to show up. Not just for days or weeks.
Zoom out.

2) Work both sides of the equation
My aunt makes the most AMAZING rye and ginger every Christmas.
I tried to make it for myself recently. First one was WAY too strong.
For the next one, I added less rye, and a bit more ginger ale.
That drops the alcohol % - just like you can drop your body fat % by working on BOTH sides of the equation.
You have 3 options:
> lose fat first
> build muscle first
> lose fat while building muscle
Faster, more impressive, and longer lasting results come from the 3rd.

3) Measure and manage
It's been 11 months since I've lost weight.
I've focused on gaining muscle this year.
But the last time I lost fat, I didn't lose any muscle along the way.
How do I know?

I track my weight and reps in the gym
-
I look at body measurements and scale weight
-
I take progress photos and videos to see visual changes
When all those are moving well, you know you're on track.
There's NOTHING more motivating than results. Getting properly lean for the first time will take longer than you think. Without confirmation that what you're doing is working - you won't get there.
Keep your numbers front of mind.
