News from the Fox Den

February 13, 2026

A Message from Ms. Consolla

We are celebrating a full week of school with no weather delays—what a wonderful way to keep our learning momentum strong! It has been a great week of engagement and focus across our classrooms.

This week, students are beginning their fifth Language Arts unit, with a focus on technology. You may hear your child share about reading informational texts on topics such as robots, drones, and cell phones, or writing opinion pieces about how technology should be used in our daily lives. We are excited to see our students think critically about the role technology plays in our world.

Some of our families received a survey from FCPS about boundary changes for next year. Students who currently live in the Creekside neighborhood and are in Grades 4 & 5 will have the option to attend Mount Vernon Woods ES or finish out at Fort Hunt through sixth grade. FCPS is trying to assess what the transportation needs might be.

There are still many questions about the boundary change options and the impact on Fort Hunt. I am working with various central office members to get answers and support families through this transition.

Thank you for your continued partnership and for the warmth you bring to our school community.  Enjoy the long weekend.

Winter Family Score Reports for ES Screening/Growth Assessments

It’s Kindergarten Registration Time!

Kindergarten helps children learn and practice the social, emotional, problem-solving, and self-regulation skills they will use throughout their lives.

Fairfax County public schools typically conduct kindergarten registration events, including orientation, in the spring. Eligible children can be registered throughout the summer, but registering your child early helps schools prepare and ensure they have the teachers and resources needed on the first day of school.

If your child will attend our school, please gather necessary documents and complete registration forms as soon as possible.

FCPS offers support and resources for all families to help with registration and the transition to kindergarten. For support in other languages, please visit the FCPS Registration webpage

Our Student Information Assistant, Ms. Rosa Dobarco, is on leave during February. Please direct any registration questions to Ms. Sarah Lee here at Fort Hunt at 703-619-2600 or selee2@fcps.edu
