Behind the Scenes of Industry’s Wild, Shocking, Violent Accra Episode |
The fifth episode of Industry’s fourth season wades into uncharted territory, leaving London behind and landing on West African soil. In “Eyes Without a Face,” which aired two days early ahead of the Super Bowl, SternTao traders Sweetpea Golightly (Miriam Petche) and Kwabena Bannerman (Toheeb Jimoh) head to Ghana on a hunch that the business operations of payment-processing start-up Tender, which has become the primary target for SternTao’s shorts-only fund, might not be entirely above board. It’s a massive departure from the days of Harper (Myha’la) and Yasmin (Marisa Abela) being locked to their desks as junior traders on the floor at London-based investment bank Pierpoint. “There’s no point coming back to a season of Industry if it’s not going to feel different to the last one,” cocreator and showrunner Mickey Down tells VF’s Chris Murphy over Zoom about the decision to leave Pierpoint behind for season four.
Elsewhere in HWD, Murphy also writes about Turning Point USA’s embarrassing attempt at an answer to Bad Bunny’s star-studded Super Bowl halftime show; Ralph Jones speaks to Diego Schaaf, the man behind Timothée Chalamet’s table tennis serves; Anne Hathaway wants you to turn The Devil Wears Prada 2 into a fashion show; and Kase Wickman on the Lindbergh baby kidnapping case that still haunts us after nearly 100 years. |
