February 6, 2026

Happy Friday, Panthers!

February is a month dedicated to honoring and celebrating the remarkable contributions and achievements of African Americans—past, present, and future. I encourage you to explore, reflect on, and celebrate these accomplishments not only in February but throughout the entire year. And because February is also a month filled with love, friendship, and positive energy, I wish our entire Panther family a very Happy Valentine’s Day and thank you for helping birth a love of learning in our Panthers!

We are excited to be underway with second semester. Our focus remains steadfast: cultivating a positive school climate and providing the very best learning environment for every student. Student and staff safety, high-quality instruction, and meaningful learning experiences continue to be our highest priorities. Everything we do at Langston Hughes Middle School is designed with one goal in mind—student success. There is no question about it: A strong partnership between home and school is a key ingredient in helping our students thrive.

Mark your calendars for our 2nd Quarter Honor Roll Celebration, which will take place on Friday, February 13, 2026. RSVP forms were sent via email today to families of students who earned honor-roll recognition. Be sure to RSVP.  We look forward to celebrating our scholars!

Please continue to stay connected by checking your email, reading The News You ChooseSunday’s THIS and THAT, and following us on X – formerly Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. I remain incredibly proud to serve the Langston Hughes community, and I am convinced—without hesitation—that we have the best students in the world!

Finally, I hope to see you at Monday’s PTA meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the school library. Thank you, as always, for your continued support, partnership, and cooperation.

Be well!  Stay warm!

Principal Mizell
