I don’t often do drawings set in medieval scenes, but here’s one I did a little while ago that you might enjoy. Below is one from a master of this type of political cartoon. News update: The government published dozens of nude photos of young women, age not clear. Other victims have expressed outrage that their names and other identifying information have been found in the files. I am beyond upset with the recent drop of pages from the Epstein files. Trump is named in them, but they have not been corroborated so he can still deny the mentions. Victims names were listed when they are supposed to be protected. And it's clear that so much that happened in the past was not prosecuted, when it could have been, and so many of these young women, girls, have been horribly damaged by what happened to them. It makes me incredibly sad. And angry that successful men can get away with these crimes. But I know there are a lot of people working to rectify this, among them the two men who put forth the bill to release the Epstein files. I trust it will all come crashing down. The goverment is partially shut down, still. No end in sight. Trump says he’s closing the Kennedy Center for two years for construction. I’m sure the closing is because so many great artists who were supposed to appear at the Kennedy Center have withdrawn. He can’t get anybody that’s at all good to perform. I’ve been to the Kennedy Center, since I grew up in Washington, and my first thought was that he was going to ruin the inside — if he does any reconstruction. If he gets that far, I’m sure he will. But maybe we can impeach him before he can do any damage to the buliding. Good news: A Democratic political outsider, working class man named Taylor Rehmet, pulled off a stunning State Senate win in Fort Worth, Texas. He defeated a hard-line Republican candidate by 14 percentage points. Great sign. This drawing was done by my friend Dana Fradon in 1994 and published in The New Yorker. Such a great cartoon. Dana published nearly 1,400 drawings between 1948 and 2003. Sadly, he died in 2019. Tomorrow I will publish some of the responses I got when I asked paid subscribers what they would say if they could send the resignation letter to Kristie Noem! Thanks for being here, see you tomorrow! Keep up the fight, keep strong and share share share important work being done to fight for our democracy. I think it helps our spirits and keeps the resistance strong. |
