Ukraine suffered fewer air attacks than usual from Russia overnight, after Trump said Russian President Vladimir Putin had agreed not to attack Kyiv and other parts of the country for a week amid freezing weather. In Kyiv, temperatures are forecast to plummet to -24C (-11F). In recent weeks, Russia has intensified attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, leaving millions of people without heating or power. Last week, Russian, Ukrainian and US negotiators met in the UAE for the first trilateral talks since the war began, with all sides describing the talks as constructive. |
