Address Count Listing Files and Related Map Viewer Updates
The Census Bureau has released updated housing unit and group quarters counts for the nation. These counts are released twice a year to provide information on the evolving changes of our nation's residential housing units and group quarters. The housing unit counts are released for each census block in the nation within state-based, pipe-delimited files that are available for download here.
The Current Address Count Listing Files Viewer enables users to interact with a map application to view the current housing unit and group quarters counts for the census block that the user selects. The Housing Unit Change Viewer enables users to interact with a map application to view the percent change and numeric change in housing units from the 2020 Census through November 2025 by state, county, census tract, census block group, and census block. When a user selects a specific geographic area within the viewer, a pop-up window details the housing unit change counts and provides a historical snapshot of housing unit and group quarters counts from 2020, 2023, 2024, and 2025.

Use of the latest and best geographic methodologies is critical to the Census Bureau’s ability to serve as the leading provider of statistical and geospatial data. Our geographic area concepts, information, and statistical data must keep pace with the needs of the researchers and analysts who work to understand the changing distribution and characteristics of our people, places, and economy.
