It’s hard to read the news. It’s been overwhelming. So I try to give you things I read that I find significant…always with a drawing or two. In this past few days, I have found hope in some of the brave public servants who are pushing back, some resigning in protest, some suing Trump. These suits will take years to play out, but that’s not totally the point. I think the point is the loudness of these actions. Not only do we have to speak out about him, we have to do it on video, to the media and be aggressive in our words. Senator Mark Kelly is suing Trump and Hegseth. Before being brought on as Pentagon head, Hegseth was simply a weekend host on Fox News, and had served in the Army Reserve and the National Guard. He is seeking to demote Kelly for a video in which Kelly stated the duty of military includes not obeying illegal orders. A fact. Hegseth thinks this is treasonous, and what he seeks to do is wrong, and an insult to Kelly, a decorated retired Navy officer and astronaut. Kelly said, “I will fight this with everything I’ve got—not for myself, but to send a message back that Pete Hegseth and Donald Trump don’t get to decide what Americans in this country get to say about their government.” The DOJ says it’s investigating Renee Good’s widow for possible ties to what they think are left wing/activist causes. Which is not a crime! (If they ever investigate me, they’ll find a ton of stuff) This is a diversion and a scare tactic to try to make protestors think twice, which I know they won’t. But today six prosecutors in the Minnesota government resign in protest. YES, I applaud them! And all the protests in the streets. The following seems to me to be a clear impeachable offense, if not more: We learned today that last year, Trump and Hegseth used a secret aircraft painted to look like a civilian plane in its first attack on a boat they said was smuggling drugs, killing 11 people. The laws of armed conflict “ oprohibit combatants from feigning civilian status to fool adversaries, then attacking and killing them. That is a war crime called “perfidy.” It explicitly prohibits “feigning civilian status and then attacking.” And the Epstein Files are not being released, which is now illegal. That’s it for me today. Thanks for being here, see you tomorrow! You're currently a free subscriber to Seeing Things. For the full experience, |
