Risk-reduction through design awards 2026 – last chance to enter

This year marks the 10th anniversary of HSE’s 'Risk-reduction through design awards' and the deadline for submissions is fast approaching.

If you are an employer in the UK and you have made design changes that have reduced musculoskeletal risks in your workplace, then join us in celebrating this milestone by nominating your business and showcasing your contribution to healthier workplaces.

MSDs affect backs, joints, and limbs. They remain one of the leading causes of work-related ill health, costing Great Britain over 6.6 million lost working days every year.

The awards are focusing on organisations that have:

  • reduced lifting, pushing, or pulling
  • improved posture during tasks
  • eliminated manual handling through design changes

If your workplace has introduced improvements like these, this is your chance to be recognised. The winning entries will:

  • gain national recognition for innovation and commitment to worker wellbeing
  • inspire others to share your success
  • be part of a national celebration of design-led safety improvements

Award categories

There are 2 categories you can enter:

  • best overall MSD risk reduction
  • SME recognition award (for businesses with fewer than 250 employees)

How to enter

Further details on how to enter, as well as inspiring case studies of previous winners, can be found on our website.

The deadline for entries is 31 January 2026.
