Getting to Cooperstown requires a flight to Albany, followed by a 70-mile drive through the small towns and rolling farmlands of upstate New York. That or a four-hour trek from Boston or New York.
Getting there is not easy. But it’s a trip every member of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America should try to make before casting their first vote for the Hall of Fame.
Walking through that building, especially the plaque gallery, offers a perspective that can’t be gained otherwise. It leaves you with a sense of wanting to do your full diligence before voting.
But there is no right or wrong way to vote. The six Globe writers who cast ballots this year offered proof of that.
