Thursday

  • Jim Jarmusch’s new film “Father Mother Sister Brother,” starring Adam Driver, Tom Waits, Mayim Bialik, and Cate Blanchett, opens in theaters.

  • Tessa Thompson plays a journalist investigating a murder in the new series “His & Hers,” debuting on Netflix.

  • Get ready for another pulse-pounding shift as the medical drama “The Pitt,” starring Noah Wyle, returns for season 2 on HBO Max.

Friday

  • Check out a live taping of the hit podcast “Clown People” at The Comedy Studio, in honor of the show’s 200th episode.

  • Texas comic Brian Simpson stops in the Hub this weekend for a stand-up performances at Laugh Boston Friday and Saturday.

Saturday

  • “Bowie Cello Symphonic Aura: Blackstar Visualized” will honor David Bowie on the 10th anniversary of his death at MIT’s Thomas Tull Concert Hall.

  • Mobius presents its latest round of concerts featuring one-minute dance solos at the Lilypad in Cambridge.




Sunday

  • The Golden Globes return Sunday night. Check out the film and TV nominees with local ties.

  • The new murder mystery series “Bookish,” starring Mark Gatiss, premieres on PBS.

  • “Industry” returns to HBO for season 4, with a slew of fresh faces, including Kal Penn, Kiernan Shipka, and Charlie Heaton.

Ongoing

  • “Wonder: The Musical” continues at the American Repertory Theater through Feb. 8.

Last Chance

  • “Grace Hartigan: The Gift of Attention” ends its run Portland Museum of Art on Sunday.
