Today's starting lineup

Houston’s Eastside is welcoming another state champion. And this time, North Shore did it with defense — and yet another stirring throw to add to the Mustangs' time capsule. Kaleb Maryland and Jaylen Bocard hooked up for a memorable touchdown and the North Shore defense made a slim lead hold up to beat perennial rival Duncanville in a gritty Class 6A Division I championship game.

Meantime, another low-scoring game didn't turn out so well for the home team in College Station as Texas A&M lost to Miami in the College Football Playoff's first round. Same old Aggies? It depends on your perspective, writes Kirk Bohls.
