A Message from the PTA President
Dear Hunt Valley Families,
As 2025 winds down and I reflect back on the start of the school year, I want to say how grateful I am to everyone reading this message for your time and efforts in support of the PTA. I have had the pleasure of volunteering alongside really lovely people who obviously care deeply about their students’ community.
I want to wish all of you a happy holiday season as we go into the last day of school before winter break. My hope for us all during break is lots of time with loved ones, many memories made, warm meals shared, and the opportunity to recharge and reenergize for 2026.

Holiday Sweet Shoppe
Monday was a sweet start to the last week of school before winter break, with a PTA organized cookie extravaganza. Teachers and staff were able to stop by the break room and fill a to-go box with their favorite holiday treats. Thank you to the Hospitality Committee and those who sent in baked goods to help make this cookie wonderland into a reality!
Hunt Valley 3rd Annual Scripps Spelling Bee
Register your child for the Scripps National Spelling Bee at Hunt Valley! The 2025-26 Hunt Valley Scripps Spelling Bee is open to Kindergarten through 6th grade students and will be held at Hunt Valley Cafeteria on Friday, February 20, 2025, 6:00–8:00 p.m.

All interested students must register in advance for the Bee and will receive a word study list. The winner will advance to the Fairfax County Spelling Bee.

Hunt Valley Teacher and Staff Favorites List Available Now!
The PTA has been working behind the scenes to collect teacher and staff favorites to make it easier for those looking for gift ideas to show appreciation for our amazing teachers and staff. We've collected a list of their favorite things—whether it's a preferred snack, drink, or even a favorite color! These little insights can help you personalize your gifts and make them extra special. January Book Swap
Book Swap is coming January 23rd! We will start collecting books January 5th. We ask everyone to please look for a few gently used books your family no longer needs. Please, only books for K-6 students in good condition are accepted.
Winter After School Activities
The PTA’s After School Activities Coordinators are looking for parent volunteers for both Overtime Athletics classes. A parent that commits to attend all sessions will be able to register their student in that activity for free. Parents can partner for an activity and split the sessions between them, but will not get the session for free for their students.
