As we prepare for America’s 250th and five years post the infamy of January 6th, The Deplorables is a history play for the present. Episodes (both real and imagined) from the American Revolution and Civil War collide with actual congressional testimony from four police officers in the aftermath of the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Part of The Resistance Readings, staged readings and other acts at 2:00 p.m. every 3rd Sunday of the month at The Filling Station in Arlington, VA. More

Film Screening & Conversation: Tactics for Remembering

Join for a special screening of a short documentary developed in conjunction with the exhibition Tactics for Remembering. The documentary brings viewers into the work of the exhibiting artists–Amalia Caputo, Reynier Leyva Novo, and Lisu Vega–in their own words. The screening will be followed by a conversation between guest curator Fabiola R. Delgado and panelists Ricardo Betancourt (film director) and Luis Vasquez La Roche (artist and professor), whose practices engage with themes of memory, migration, and cultural continuity. More

Victor Hurtado has been teaching private singing classes for military veterans via The Armed Services Armed Partnership (ASAP) for many Saturdays this year at the Studio. When that ended, he and the veterans wanted to continue their “Music Sessions from Studio Pause,” and now they are opening up their hearts and singing voices to the community in a livestream finale of their last session together!
