Serving Up Smiles: The Kilmer Center Coffee Business
Students in our Post Graduate program are gaining real-world experience through the Kilmer Center School Coffee Cart. This student-run business helps our young adults prepare for future jobs.
Our students are working hard on these core skills:

Communication: Gathering orders from staff and greeting customers with a smile.

Organization: Filling orders accurately and delivering them throughout the building.

Responsibility: Practicing food safety and working together as a team.
Sibshops and SibTeens
January 29, 9:00-noon Jim Scott Community Center 301 Vaden Dr. Fairfax, VA
The Sibshops workshops are for children in grades 2-6 enrolled in Fairfax County Public Schools who have siblings with support needs to meet other siblings in a relaxed setting. Celebrate the many contributions made by brothers and sisters of children with special needs, share sibling experiences, and receive peer support. Play games and have fun.

SibTeens is a community-building group for Middle School siblings of children with support needs in grades 6-9 enrolled in Fairfax County Public Schools. We have fun activities, both recreational and art-based, as well as discussion activities. It’s a unique opportunity for students to share about their lives and support each other while normalizing their life experiences.

TRANSITION FAIR FUTURE PLANNING FOR ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS
Wednesday, March 4, 2026 Luther Jackson Middle School 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. It’s never too early or too late to start preparing for your future. Please join CTS and other support service personnel for an evening focused on planning for the future. You will have the opportunity to meet and ask questions of representatives from CTS programs and services for students with disabilities, as well as learn about short- and long-term postsecondary supports, employment, and postsecondary education considerations, Supported Decision Making, and student self-determination. Lock & Talk: Medication and Firearm Storage
The Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board (CSB) is offering free medication lock boxes, firearm trigger locks, and drug disposal kits through the Lock and Talk Northern Virginia program. Created by the Suicide Prevention Alliance of Northern Virginia (SPAN), the initiative promotes safe storage, awareness of warning signs, and open conversations about mental wellness—proven steps that can reduce suicide risk and accidental overdoses. The Parenting Education Programs is taking registrations for virtual and in-person classes for the winter. Our next class for parents of 0–4-year-olds begins Jan. 27 at 5:30 p.m. in Alexandria. Email or check their website for the full schedule of classes that will be offered this winter.

Fairfax County Public Library’s (FCPL) winter reading adventure has begun and will continue through Saturday, January 31, 2026. Visit your local FCPL branch or their Winter Reading Adventure website to register and get a sneak peek at the prizes.
Check out their Winter Reading Events webpage to learn about gingerbread house making, crafting sessions, New Year’s Eve celebrations, and book discussions.

Kilmer Center Learning Space Donations
We have a vision to create a vibrant outdoor learning space for all students to access at Kilmer Center School. This learning space will be constructed directly beside our school building with a designated walkway directly leading to the learning space.
