Walter Reed Outdoor Pickleball Court Project Update

The Walter Reed pickleball courts continue to move forward, and the project team has been making steady progress on several fronts.

Here’s what’s new since the last update:

  • Walkways are finished.
  • New light poles are installed.
  • The shade structure is in place.
  • Fence posts, walls, and curbs around the courts are complete.
  • The courts have been paved with a base layer, and posts for nets and dividers will be installed next.
  • Stormwater work is complete, except for final plantings.
  • Landscaping and planting have begun around the site.

The project is entering its final phase of construction as we move into the winter season.
While cold weather can slow progress, the team still expects to complete construction in spring 2026.

We’ll share another update in 2026 as the project nears completion.
Have a safe and healthy new year.

Where to Play While We Build

The basketball court will remain open for both pickleball and basketball. See the play schedule on the Walter Reed Community Center and Park webpage.

Given the limited number of courts available during construction, we encourage pickleball players to explore our Pickleball webpage for additional indoor and outdoor courts throughout the County.
