Paw Prints: Updates from Dr. Grove

Dear Wolftrap Families,

We have made it to the last week before Winter Break! There is much learning and celebrating to be done this week, and we treasure every moment with your children. Thank you for your support during this fun time!

You may have seen two enotify messages that I sent last week. One message spread the good news about our Distinguished status with the Virginia Department of Education. Wolftrap has been recognized as Distinguished under Virginia’s new School Performance and Support Framework (SPSF). This rating, based on data from last school year, shows that our school is meeting or exceeding expectations set by the state around student performance. I’m so proud of our students and staff for this accomplishment.

Second, please note that we have seen an increase in vehicles parking along Talisman Rd, particularly during arrival and departure times, with the very cold temperatures. Please try to avoid this practice. It poses two concerns.

  • Unsupervised Crossing: Students crossing a street, especially during morning hours and without a crossing guard are at increased risk. Talisman Road is not staffed for student crossing (only the end of the Wolftrap driveway, with a crosswalk).
  • **Impaired Visibility: Cars pulling over and parking on Talisman Road obscure the view for families who are walking from their homes. It is not safe for those children to cross between parked cars. An increase in parked cars lessens the option for safe crossing.

Thank you for everything that you do to support Wolftrap! Have a wonderful break! See you NEXT YEAR!
