Crossfield Giving is Here

Crossfield Gives Back

This holiday season, we’re supporting Crossfield families in need, and we invite you to help make their holidays a little brighter. Please consider donating a $25 or $50 gift card from Giant, Target, or Walmart. These donations go directly to families in our school community who could use extra support. Gift cards can be dropped off at the Main Office by Tuesday, December 16. Thank you for helping spread kindness and care this season!

Thank you Crossfield!

Thank you

Thank you for participating in the Square 1 Art fundraiser and helping Crossfield meet our fundraising goal!  By ordering your child’s amazing art on memorable keepsakes, you celebrated creativity AND helped raise over $1,500 for our school!  Thank you for your support.

Even though our fundraiser has ended, you can still order items year-round.  www.square1art.com

Cold Weather Reminders

As the cold weather has now arrived, please make sure your child is dressed appropriately with a warm coat and other cold-weather clothing so they can comfortably enjoy their time outdoors. We will monitor the weather for advisories and warnings regarding temperatures and wind chills. Please expect that your child will go outside for recess every day, even on days that are below freezing, unless there is an advisory or warning posted that prevents children from being outside.

View the National Weather Service’s tips on staying safe during cold weather.

If you need assistance getting cold-weather clothing for your family, please call Fairfax County Coordinated Services Planning (CSP) at 703-222-0880. Their multilingual staff can assist with any challenges you are facing, including food, shelter, employment, financial assistance, and health.

Reminder:  Window for Full-Time AAP Referrals Closes on December 15, 2025

Parents/guardians of students in grades 2-7 who would like their student to be considered for full-time advanced academic programs may submit the AAP full-time referral form to Melissa Graham, AART and Mark Granieri, Principal, no later than December 15, 2025.

The window for families to submit a referral for full-time AAP services the first day of school through December 15, annually.  Forms for full-time and part-time referrals are available on the Advanced Academic Programs Forms Page.   No late referrals for full-time AAP services will be accepted.

Submitting a referral from for full-time AAP services will initiate a process that begins at the local school and is then completed at the central office level.  Our school will put together a portfolio that includes multiple data which are considered holistically.  At the central office level, a committee of six trained professionals from various schools and roles will review the portfolio materials to determine eligibility for full-time placement.  Eligibility decisions are communicated by early April.  Parents may request a copy of the portfolio that was submitted after they have been turned in for central selection by emailing Melissa Graham, AART.

If you miss this full-time referral deadline, your student can still be screened for subject specific AAP or part time AAP services for the remainder of the year and submit a referral for the full-time AAP services next fall. Referrals for subject specific and part-time AAP services are screened at the local school.

For more information, please visit the FCPS Advanced Academic Programs website.
