Understanding Neurodiversity on Campus

Ten years ago, an estimated one in every 59 8-year-olds was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. By 2020, that rate was one in 36.

That increase, coupled with steady growth in the number of children with ADHD and similar disorders, means that the number of neurodivergent students graduating from high school is likely to keep rising. If colleges hope to attract and retain more neurodivergent students, they will need to ramp up support for this population.
