Dear Kings Park Families,
We hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and found time to relax and connect with family and friends.
December is off to a joyful start with our PE and Music Open Houses; the momentum continues with the Kings Park Book Fair opening on Thursday. We're also beginning the month with colder temperatures. With the arrival of winter weather, FCPS' website is generally the first place to find out about emergency weather closings. Other communication channels include email, text, social media, the new FCPS mobile app and news stations.
We’re excited for all that December holds and look forward to a month full of learning, celebration, and community.

School Picture Updates
All students were photographed for school records on November 5th. Students who ordered pictures will have their picture packets sent home today. Students who were absent on the November photo day or students enrolled after November 5th will be photographed for school records on December 8th. An optional photo order form will be sent home for these students. Students who would like to retake their photo may return the packet to their teacher by December 8th.
Parents still wanting to order pictures can use the NEW Strawbridge Code Lookup Tool. Simply click the link or scan the QR code below and follow the directions to access your child's picture ordering gallery. You don’t need to contact Customer Service for an access code! Student last name and Student ID number will be required for data security.
If at any time you have questions about the Code Lookup Tool or are having difficulty navigating the site, you can still reach out to the Strawbridge Customer Service team via the Live Chat on their website, www.strawbridge.net.
Reminder: Makeup Picture Day is Monday, December 8th.
12/3 Lunch Menu Change
There will be a change in the lunch menu for Wednesday, December 3. There will not be BBQ chicken drumstick or BBQ chickenless bites. Instead, they will be serving turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, and green beans or chickenless bites.
3-hour Early Release Wednesday - December 10th (Grades K-3)
Kings Park’s next 3-hour Early Release Wednesday is Wednesday, December 10th for students in grades K-3. Changes to dismissal plans must be received by noon on Monday, December 8th. Preschool follows a normal schedule that day.
Advanced Academics Spotlight
Be sure to check out the December Kings Park/Kings Glen AAP Newsletter, linked on our Kings Park Website! Mrs. Mucciolo and Mrs. Rode will continue to offer office hours for questions about services and screening. You can find the link as well as a checklist for submitting full-time materials in this month's edition!
Reminder: Window for AAP Full-Time Referrals Ends December 15, 2025
Parents/guardians of KPES students in Grades 2-3 who would like their student to be considered for Full-Time Advanced Academic Programs may submit the AAP Full-Time Referral Form to Jamie Mucciolo (JMMucciolo@fcps.edu) no later than December 15, 2025.
The window to submit an AAP Full-Time Referral Form is the first day of school through December 15, annually. Forms for full-time and part-time referrals are available on the AAP Forms Page. No late referrals for Full-Time services can be accepted.
Submitting a referral form for AAP Full-Time services will initiate a process that begins at the local school and is then completed at the central office level. Our school committee will put together a portfolio that includes multiple data points which are considered holistically. At the central office level, a committee of professionals from various schools review materials to determine eligibility for full-time placement. Eligibility decisions are communicated by early April. Parents may request a copy of the portfolio that was submitted after they have been turned in for central selection by emailing Jamie Mucciolo in mid/late February.
For more information, parents may review Testing and Identification information on the AAP office website, as well as information about Full-Time services. We have also created a Full-Time Referral Checklist to assist with required and optional materials. Please reach out to Jamie Mucciolo via email at JMMucciolo@fcps.edu with any further questions.
Preschool Community Peers - Apply Now!
Kings Park’s half-day afternoon preschool programs are now enrolling community peers to learn alongside preschool students with disabilities in a nurturing, high-quality environment. Families with children in our community, ages 3-5, who meet program criteria, can apply now. If selected, community peers will begin attending half-day preschool at Kings Park from 12:00pm-3:20pm at a date to be determined.
Complete the Interest Form if you would like to have your child considered to be a community peer.
Kings Park Book Fair: December 4th - December 12th
Our winter book fair is quickly approaching! The fair will run Thursday, December 4th - Friday, December 12th. Students with library on Monday will also be able to shop during their class on the 8th. Come shop as a family on Wednesday, December 10th; we will be open from 3:30pm – 6:00pm for our Family Night!
We strongly encourage parents to make an eWallet for their child through our Scholastic fair website, this will allow your child to shop the fair without having to bring in cash! Kings Park ES Gift Card Drive
We are still collecting gift cards to assist Kings Park ES families in need. Gift cards to Giant, Safeway, Walmart, and Target will go directly to families of students facing food insecurity and/or requiring assistance with basic necessities and seasonal support. Even small donations can make a big impact. Gift cards are being collected now through December 12th.
