When the Patriots host the Giants on Monday night, only one team will have something to play for.
That would be the Patriots, who at 10-2 are in the lead for the No. 1 seed in the AFC. The 2-10 Giants, meanwhile, are the only team to officially be eliminated from playoff contention. Not even the 1-10 Titans have been eliminated yet.
“We’ve got five [games] left, five guaranteed, and that’s all we’re going to get,” Giants pass rusher Brian Burns said. “I’ve kind of been looking at the back half of the season as, I’m going to go all out regardless of our record or regardless of whatever we’re eliminated, whatever.”
The Patriots have been beating up on a bunch of patsies this season, and Monday night at Gillette Stadium should be no different. Expectations weren’t high for the Giants coming off a 3-14 season, yet they have still managed to underwhelm and implode spectacularly.
