Haycock Elementary Family Liaison Newsletter
6th Edition, November 2025

From Your Family Liaison: Kathryn Dunbar

Time Magazine published an article in 2017 by Katie Reilly regarding the value of recess for children. In it, Reilly cites the American Academy of Pediatrics recommendation that children participate in 60 minutes of "moderate to vigorous activity per day". So, for the non-school days, try to find time to take a walk, play catch, or have a kitchen dance party with your student which will allow the whole family to get goofy together!

Speaking of Activity...

Bring the whole family to Haycock on Sunday, December 7, from 11am - 1pm to help to get existing gardens clear for the winter.

Bring garden rakes, gloves, shovels and any wagons or wheelbarrows you have to share. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes and clothes for digging and moving around.

Students welcome, accompanied by adults.

No sign up needed, just meet by the playground.
